The Route

The plan is to leave London and travel overland through France to Andorra where we will do a few days of snowboarding before moving on to Spain and then across to Portugal and down the coast to Gibraltar where we will cross over to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta by ferry.

We will then continue through Morocco by the trails in the Atlas mountains to Marrakech and then on to the coast and down the Western Sahara and across into Mauritania where we are going to try and spend some time bashing around in the Sahara desert before moving further south to Senegal, the Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea and back into the Sahara of Mali where we will try and visit the legendary Tombouctou.

After Mali we will drive briefly through Niger and into Nigeria, cutting of the top of this country and across and south in Cameroon. Then through Gabon and the slightly dodgy countries of Congo (Brazzaville), the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cabinda and finally Angola.

From here on in it should be relatively easy going through Namibia and into South Africa towards our destination of Cape Town.
